Bioethanol
Bioethanol is a renewable substitute for gasoline made from the carbohydrates in plants (such as wheat, sugar beet, corn, sugarcane) through a process of fermentation, distillation, and dehydration. It can be blended at up to 5% for use in any petrol-based car engine without modification.
Vivergo will produce 420 million litres of bioethanol per annum using wheat as the feedstock. The ethanol will be single-specification, anhydrous fuel grade ethanol, suitable for the UK and European fuels markets. Vivergo's facility includes both port access and road tanker loading, offering flexibility on logistics and market reach.
